Q: What happens in a medical emergency? A: There is a land and water based ambulance service connecting to the closest hospital on the mainland. There is also a helicopter ambulance service for life threatening cases.
Q: Is there a resident doctor on the islands? A: Yes, on a Monday to Friday basis only. There is also a chemist on Macleay Island.
Q: Is there a library? A: Yes.
Q: Are pets allowed and is there a vet? A: Yes - pets are allowed and Bay Islands Veterinary Services attends Macleay Island every Tuesday & Saturday and are equipped with surgery facilities.
Q: Is there a fire brigade? A: We have a volunteer rural fire brigade and station.
Q: Is there a police station?
A: Yes. We have an officer stationed on Macleay in Pelican Street.
